Hamilton Park Racecourse stays ahead of the field this season with ground breaking Super Saturday fixtures

This year’s racing at Hamilton Park Racecourse just got bigger, bolder and better than ever before with the launch of the Super Saturday series.

In a UK first, the Lanarkshire racing venue is delighted to announce they will throw open their gates at 12pm for the ground breaking series, moving away from the normal 2 hours before the first race, to create an exciting line up of fantastic events which will entertain the crowd all day, from midday until late, with live racing in the evening.

Branded the Super Saturday series and sponsored by Jordan Electrics Ltd, the bold concept features three distinct racedays – including a brand new Saturday fixture in September. Each has their own unique identity and will turn the traditional evening fixture on its head by becoming much more than just a night at the races.

Punters will be able to enjoy the best entertainment alongside some of the finest live race action in Scotland, while watching and betting on the best racing from tracks up and down the country as they are broadcast live around the racecourse throughout the afternoon.

Vivien Kyles, Chief Executive at Hamilton Park Racecourse, said: “With a change to our fixture list we now have three Saturdays and we’ve been looking at how we can really take those events to the next level.

“We have enhanced and extended our entertainment to ensure there is plenty to do before our own live racing gets underway in the evening, but we’ll also be showcasing the action from tracks across the country to ensure racing is still at the heart of each fixture. Visitors are sure to enjoy an action packed day and night when attending a Super Saturday fixture.”

Providing something for everyone, the three Super Saturday events are: the Highland Show Racenight on July 9, The Alea Casino Ladies’ Night with Mark Wright, Shayne Ward and Jake Quickenden on July 30 and the new September 24 Saturday fixture – the Totepool Music Festival Racenight.

Vivien added: “We feel the time is right to try something new, particularly with racing becoming more and more about the social occasion and people are looking for a complete day out.

“Each of the days will have its own individual theme – a Highland Show which is perfect for all the family especially with our free admission policy for under 18’s, a music festival with a headline act and of course our record breaking ladies’ night – we hope that all three will quickly become established as unmissable dates for the diary.

“The Super Saturday events are sure to be popular and I would urge anyone thinking of coming to take advantage of our increased early booking discount to avoid disappointment.”

The three fantastic events in the Super Saturday series are:

Saturday July 9 – Highland Show Racenight

This family focused day will see Hamilton Park split into zones for a fun day for the whole family.

These will include a childrens’ zone with free rides and attractions; a food & drink area showcasing the best produce Scotland has to offer; an animal zone with petting zoo offering the chance to learn about and meet a variety of animals and a machinery zone showcasing farm vehicles and equipment.

There will also be a main arena on the lawn featuring live displays throughout and live music after racing.

Away racing, which will be shown on screens around the site, will include Ascot, Chester, Newmarket and York in the afternoon with Hamilton Park’s action starting around 6pm.

Saturday 30 July – Alea Casino Ladies’ Night with Mark Wright, Shayne Ward and Jake Quickenden

It’s three times the thrills for Alea Casino Ladies’ Night as telly hunks Mark Wright, Shayne Ward and Jake Quickenden all descend on Hamilton Park.

X-Factor winner turned soap star Shayne Ward will wow the crowd in the early afternoon with Jake taking the stage prior to the evening racing before Mark rounds of the party with his late evening DJ set. There will be plenty on offer throughout the day with a brand new shopping and pamper area, in association with fashion partner Debenhams, fashion shows and of course the coveted Best Dressed Lady Competition. Hosted by Capital FM’s Des and Jenny, the winning lady will walk away with £1000 plus a host of other great prizes up for grabs

On screen away racing will feature action from Doncaster, Goodwood, Newmarket and Thirsk in the afternoon and Lingfield Park in the evening before Hamilton Park’s racing starts at around 5.40pm.

Saturday 24 September – Totepool Music Festival Racenight

Brand new for 2016! The Totepool Music Festival Racenight will feature some of the best local bands, as well as headline act appearing on stage after racing and taking revellers into the night.

Away action will feature races from Chester, Haydock, Newmarket, Ripon and jumps from Market Rasen in the afternoon. Hamilton Park’s racing starts at around 3.40pm.

Advance discount tickets for the Super Saturday fixtures are available now from only £25 per person with free admission for under 18’s (under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult).
