Racing Report

West Wind Blows was a brilliant all-the-way winner of the Listed British Stallions Studs EBF Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton Park.

Trained in Newmarket by Simon and Ed Crisford and ridden by Ben Curtis, the 5-4 favourite slammed Groundbreaker by seven and a half lengths.

Philip Robinson, racing manger to winning owner Abdulla Al Mansoori, said: “He did that very, very well and he has Group 1 entries later on in the season. He ran a very respectable race in the Derby and we are very much looking forward to seeing what he is really capable of.”

Rathbone came from second last to land the £35,000 G4 Claims Not At Fault Claims Made Easy Scottish Stewards’ Cup for Oisin McSweeney and Kevin Ryan.

The winner flashed home by a head from I’m A Gambler and Edward Cornelius, who dead-heated for second.

McSweeney said: “He was fifth last year and he just does things in his own time. He’s passed a lot of horses and we were maybe still in front soon enough. It’s my biggest career win as I’ve never won a class 2 race before. “
