FLORIDA FILLY, a shock course and distance scorer 16-days earlier, was an impressive winner at Hamilton Park on Saturday night.
Iain Jardine’s charge, who was the 40-1 outsider of the field when making last time was a well-backed 13-8 favourite under Paul Mulrennan in the Margaret McCluskey Memorial Celebrations EBF Restricted Novice Stakes.
Jardine said: “She’s clearly improving and Paul reckons she should get an extra furlong. Like her half-sister Orlaith, it would nice to get her some Black Type so we’ll sit down and discuss plans with her owner Jimmy Fyffe.”
Refuge landed his third course and distance success of the year under Jo Mason in the Jordan Electrics Handicap.
The winning jockey said: “I’ve ridden him before but this is the first time I’ve won on him. He took me there travelling ever so well and, to be honest, I could have done for a lead for a little bit longer.”
