Racing Report

GET SHIRTY was given a peach of ride by David Nolan on his way to victory in the £30,000 Palmaris Services Braveheart Handicap at Hamilton Park on Friday night.

Sent off at 5-1, the David O’Meara-trained gelding swooped late to beat Heights Of Abraham by half a length.

Nolan said: “It all went pretty much to plan as I wanted to drop him in and get some cover. I hadn’t ridden him before tonight but I knew he had been in pretty decent form already this season.

“I had time off with an injury during the winner but it’s sorted out now and I’m fine now. I’ve only had six or seven rides this year and this is my first winner since returning.”

Shine On Brendan lost his maiden tag at the 27th attempt when pipping Hostelry by half a length in the PDM Buildbase Scotland Handicap under Paul Mulrennan.

Winning trainer Jim Goldie said: “It’s taken him a while to win but he’s obviously had breathing issues as the wind surgery seems to have worked. He holds an entry at Ayr on Wednesday but we’ll how he is before making a final decision on his next run.”
