RACING TV’s GORDON BROWN podcast racing preview for Sodexo Live! Raceday ahead of Thursday 5th June
Kaiya Fraser bids to keep up his tremendous record at Hamilton Park in the feature race aboard Fahrenheit Seven. The highflying rookie’s partner, trained in Lambourn by Mark Usher, is one of seven runners declared for the £30,000 Weatherbys Digital Solutions Clyde Handicap over six-furlongs. Fraser, who is making a bold bid for the apprentice championship this term, has a 44 per-cent (8/18) strike-rate at the Lanarkshire venue – his best at any of the UK tracks. It will be the first time he has ridden Fahrenheit Seven as it was Connor Beasley that took the mount when the gelding scrambled home by a neck at Pontefract in April.
Tim Easterby, last year’s winning handler with Manila Scouse, saddles Amie Waugh-ridden Count d’Orsay while Richard Fahey, responsible for narrow runner-up Dare To Hope twelve months ago, tries to go one better with recent Ripon scorer Tropical Island. The card gets underway with a hot-looking Sodexo Live 2YO Series EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes, which is a qualifier for the Hamilton Park 2YO Series Final in September. Ed Walker’s Midnight Tango and Archie Watson-trained Blue Nguru, the only ride of the day for Hollie Doyle, both boast decent debut efforts when finishing fourth and third at Newmarket and Goodwood respectively. In-form Ruth Carr is represented by Betweenthesticks in the Morton Fraser Macroberts LLP Handicap.
The Yorkshire raider has gone up 4lbs for close wins at Nottingham and Catterick this year and his main threat could be Iain Jardine’s Parisiac, who shoulders a 7lb penalty for his nail-biting nose success over course and distance eight-days ago.
