Hamilton Park Racecourse’s new mascot will be unveiled at a family festival this Father’s Day.

The racecourse’s new champion, designed by a pupil from Chatelherault Primary School, will make its debut at the venue’s annual Family Man Fun Day on Sunday 21st June.

Chosen from an array of creative designs by children across Lanarkshire, the life-size champ will join mascots from across the region in the event’s annual Mascot Parade and headline Mascot Race.

Vivien Kyles, Chief Executive at Hamilton Park Racecourse, said: “We were blown away by the quality of the submissions for our first ever mascot. The winning design will make a wonderful addition to the life of the racecourse and we can’t wait to welcome our winning young designer and families from across the region to see it brought to life for the first time at our upcoming Father’s Day family extravaganza.”

The free festival is organised in partnership with Community Learning and Home School Partnership and Partners, and the organisers of South Lanarkshire’s Big Bike Day. It will feature a host of activities for all the family, with everything from Bookbug and Gymboree in a dedicated Tot and Toddler Zone to tasters and demos from the Guides and Scouts in the Teens and Tweenies Zone.

Other activities on the day will include a climbing wall and inflatable play area courtesy of the Army Cadets and Scottish Fire and Rescue, plus a host of cycling-themed activities.

Fiona Robertson, Senior Community Learning and Home School Partnership Worker, added: “The Family Man Fun Day offers something for all the family to enjoy. Taking place on Father’s Day, it’s the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with your loved ones and enjoy an afternoon of top quality entertainment.”

The Family Man Family Fun Day takes place on Father’s Day, Sunday 21st June between 12pm and 4pm, with the mascot parade starting at 12.15pm and the Mascot Race kicking off at 1pm. Entry to the event is free, while the Community Carnival area will feature fundraising activities.
