Press Release: 27.09.2019

A new Hamilton hotel has celebrated its opening with a visit from Royalty yesterday (26 September).

HRH The Princess Royal visited Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park to mark the new hotel’s opening with a plaque unveiling ceremony.

The hotel, which is situated within the grounds of Hamilton Park Racecourse, first opened its doors to guests on 31 July. It is the first hotel to adjoin the racecourse in its 90-year history and is the latest addition to the growing Hampton by Hilton global portfolio in nearly 30 countries and territories. HRH The Princess Royal was given a tour of the 118-room hotel before enjoying a visit to the racecourse. Having previously ridden there as a jockey, HRH The Princess Royal last attended the course to mark the renovation of the grandstand in 1991.

Many of those involved in the creation of the hotel also turned out to mark the opening, including designers, architects and construction partners who were involved in the £10m development. Also in attendance were some well-known names in racing who have a particular affiliation with Hamilton Park Racecourse, including Lanarkshire based trainers Linda Perratt and Jim Goldie.

Guests heard from Vivien Currie, Chief Executive at Hamilton Park Racecourse, on the day.
Vivien said: “We were honoured to welcome HRH The Princess Royal back to the racecourse and it was a delight to mark the hotel’s opening in such a special way. A lot has changed at Hamilton Park Racecourse since Princess Anne’s last visit so it was wonderful to show her around the new hotel and introduce her to its unique features. Opening the new Hampton by Hilton has been an extremely rewarding project and the hotel is already proving to be very popular. It signifies the beginning of an exciting new era here at Hamilton Park.”

Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park has been hailed as a fantastic boost to the local economy, with a team of 30 staff members hired, 95% of whom live in the area. The hotel features a restaurant, a bar and a small fitness centre for residents, as well as panoramic views of Hamilton Park Racecourse and 24-hour facilities for visitors to the racecourse for weddings, events, and conferences.

Rooms at the hotel can be booked online at www.hamptonhamiltonpark.hamptonbyhilton.com.
