RACING TV’s GORDON BROWN podcast racing preview for the Cube Glass Ladies’ Night ahead of Saturday 2nd August
Classy Al is on a hat-trick as he tackles the £30,000 feature race off bottom-weight on Ladies Night at Hamilton Park. After back-to-back wins at Ayr and course and distance, he lines up under Jim Goldie’s apprentice Lauren Young in the Cube Glass “Soba” Handicap over five-furlongs. It will be his second venture into Class 2 company having finished a never dangerous 20th in last year’s Ayr Bronze Cup in his only other try at this grade. At the opposite end of the handicap, Venture Capital needs a form revival after fading into last place in the recent Scottish Stewards’ Cup at the South Lanarkshire venue.
Three-time course winner Hurt You Never, trained by Adrian Nichols, is after another track strike in the PDM Handicap. A recent winner at Nottingham, the mare has given Nicholls’ son and daughter, Jack and Mia, fives victories apiece and tonight bids to supply Alfie Gee with a first success in the saddle. The card gets underway with the Scullion Law “Law Firm For Life” Maiden Stakes. Richard Fahey-trained Great Profit, who cost £360,000 in the spring Breeze-Up Sales, is equipped with a hood for the first time as tries to get off the mark at the third attempt.
