· British Racing has partnered with Blue Light Tickets to offer a complimentary trip to the races to all those working in the emergency services, NHS and social care sector.
· All 59 British Racecourses offering fixtures in show of gratitude to the workers.
· National Horseracing Museum offering a free visit.
· Scheme administered by the Racecourse Association (RCA) and Racing Together
All 59 British Racecourses and the National Horseracing Museum have partnered with Blue Light Tickets, the sister company of Blue Light Card, to offer those working in the emergency services, NHS and social care sectors a great day out as a gesture of thanks for their efforts in working throughout the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Via the Racecourse Association, the representative body of all British Racecourses, and Racing Together, British Racing’s community engagement arm, racecourses have donated thousands of complimentary tickets for Blue Light Tickets members to redeem. The scheme will open from January 2022 (subject to relevant Covid-19 restrictions).
Like many other sectors, British Horseracing requires the blue light community to facilitate its 365-day per year operation, from being on-call to help an injured rider on the gallops or providing additional security and reassurance at busy race days. The sport has always acknowledged its gratitude to frontline workers, however given the events of the past 18 months and the ongoing challenges of the pandemic it is fitting that a further nod of thanks is offered to the millions that have gone above and beyond to keep our communities safe during the pandemic.
Paul Swain, Raceday Experience & Communications Manager at the RCA, commented: “We are delighted and proud to offer this gesture of thanks to key workers for their ongoing work in helping the country out of the grips of the pandemic. It is testament to the level of support from within our membership that all racecourses signed up to this initiative without question, for which I am grateful.
I sincerely hope that everyone who participates has a fantastic day at the races, with our thanks, and that they continue their sterling work to support communities.”
Lucy Gurney, Community Engagement Manager for Racing Together, said: “We are so pleased to support racing’s united thank you to key workers.
“We hope Blue Light card members enjoy a great day out with family and friends at one of the 59 British racecourses nationwide and at Newmarket’s world-class National Horseracing Museum.”
Tom Dalby, Chief Executive of Blue Light Card, commented: “The past 18 months have truly highlighted the amazing contribution the emergency services, NHS and social sector provide, and the integral part the community plays in keeping the UK on its feet.
“It’s been a very challenging time for the racing industry, which was majorly affected by the pandemic. As we move one step closer towards normality, we’re thrilled that all 59 British
Racecourses and the National Horseracing Museum have decided to partner with us, to show their support and appreciation for the blue light community. We hope Blue Light Ticket members take full advantage of the thousands of complimentary tickets to enjoy a well-deserved day off, with a day at the races or trip to the museum.”
