Hamilton Park is set to mark a historic milestone as it celebrates its 100 year centenary season, with racing returning on Sunday 3rd May.

The season gets underway with the ever-popular Family Raceday, sponsored by Aspire Cleaning & Facilities. The opening fixture promises a fantastic day out for all, featuring seven thrilling races alongside a host of free children’s entertainment. From giant inflatables and bungee trampolines to face painting, laser tag and the much-loved Miami fairground ride returns, there is something for racegoers of every age to enjoy as the centenary celebrations get underway.

The 2026 season carries extra significance as Hamilton Park proudly celebrates a century of racing at its Bothwell Road site. Since opening its gates in 1926, the racecourse has grown into one of the UK’s leading independent tracks.

As part of the centenary celebrations, a striking sculpture by Michael Turner has been unveiled between the onsite hotel and grandstand. Capturing the movement and power of a racehorse, the piece incorporates subtle tributes to Sir Ian Good, who joined the board of Hamilton Park in May 1990 and became Chairman in 1999. Sir Ian played a key role in the racecourse’s modern development, helping to establish it as one of the UK’s premier independent venues. His legacy is reflected in the sculpture, which also includes references to his horse, Penny A Day, serving as a lasting representation of Hamilton Park’s past, present and future.

The celebrations stretch onto the track, with total prize money set to exceed £1.74 Million, making it the richest programme in the racecourse’s history, an increase of more than £100,000 on the 2025 fixtures. Highlights of the 2026 centenary season include the return of the Sky Bet Sunday Series on 17 May, offering £215,550 in prize money and live ITV Racing coverage. The British Stallion Studs EBF Glasgow Listed Stakes on 17 July will see a significant 45% increase to £80,000, while the Lanark Silver Bell Heritage Handicap remains the most valuable race of the season at £103,000. A new Class 3 handicap worth £25,000 will also be introduced in memory of Sir Ian Good, taking place on Monday 21 September.
