Hamilton Park hosts family extravaganza to end fantastic 2015 season

Families are being invited to ‘let it go’ at the spectacular Hamilton Park Racecourse season finale, which promises to be an action-packed day for little ones and big kids alike.

The much-loved racecourse is hosting a Princesses and Superheroes themed raceday as another great programme of racing draws to a close on holiday Monday 28 September.

For the First Time in Forever the course will welcome characters from Disney’s Frozen for an exciting stage show featuring songs from the hit movie, while a band of superhero characters – including Batman, Captain America and Spiderman – will join the Frozen cast to meet guests in person.

Youngsters (and their parents!) are invited to come along dressed as their favourite princess or superhero and there will be a host of themed craft activities for kids to get involved in.

Vivien Kyles, Chief Executive at Hamilton Park Racecourse, said: “Our Princesses and Superheroes Raceday is sure to be a great day out for all the family on the Glasgow holiday Monday.  We’ve had a wonderful season and Monday’s racing will provide a fantastic finale with some top quality action. The Frozen show will be a big hit with our younger guests but I’m sure their parents will be able to ‘let it go’ and join in too.  We really have enjoyed a great summer here at Hamilton Park Racecourse and we are delighted to have seen the crowds packing out our venue as they enjoyed some really exciting racing and entertainment.”

Racecourse staff have also been fund-raising for the vital Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow and will host a raffle and bucket collection on the day as they aim to raise £6,500 as part of the Charity’s ‘Pay for a Day’ campaign.

On the track the highlight of an exciting seven race card will be the £25,000 EBF Stallions Conditions Stakes (Class 2) whilst all eyes will be on the awards for the leading owner and trainer of the season who will be announced on the day, with the winning owners colours set to be flown above the grandstand for 2016.

The fantastic Jockey Hub will also be making an appearance. The mobile van is jam packed with information on the jockeys and offers punters the chance to meet the riders and get their autographs.

Gates open at 12 noon with the first hour-long Frozen themed show at 12.30pm before the thoroughbred action gets underway at 2.20pm. There’ll be meet & greets as well as craft activities with the characters throughout the afternoon ahead of the last race at 5.20pm. The cast will then take to the stage again after racing for another fantastic Frozen sing-a-long.
