PLATINUMCARD maintained his unbeaten handicap record when shouldering top-weight to victory in the £20,000 Book Our On-Site Hotel Scottish Trophy at Hamilton Park on Tuesday.

Ridden by his regular partner Billy Garritty, the 5/1 chance, who is trained by Keith Dalgleish, powered home to beat front-running stablemate Howzer Black by a neck.

Garritty said: “He got me out of trouble today as we didn’t have a lot of room on the inside. I’ve had to pull him wide up the middle of the track and I always knew he’d take me to the front. I think he’ll probably step up in trip and go for another nice race somewhere now.”

Dalgleish went to to compete a double when Paddyplex ran out a wide-margin winner of the concluding apprentice handicap while there was more Scottish in the shape of Alistair Whillans’ Desert Quest in the 1m 4f handicap.

Kevin Ryan-trained Ryan’s Party looks like a progressive juvenile after he returned from a short break to land the EBF Maiden Stakes (A Hamilton Park 2yo Series Qualifier).

Winning jockey Tom Eaves said: “He’s been gelded since he last ran and he did the job pretty well today. We’ve liked what he was doing on the gallops at home and he should continue to progress.”
